Hey,

I know that the 86 and up rear axles are around 3 inches wider, but are the spring perches mounted in the same spot as the 85 older axles?

Yes
If you're swapping, get the complete e-brake assy too, and it's a direct bolt-in.

I've done this...I would suggest doing a "U"-bolt flip at the same time.
