Hi. I am looking for the Supra Turbo replacement emblem for our front cross
panel (between the two popup lights). Methinks a local kid made off with
the original insert. If you have one or know where I can round one up I'd
appreciate your reply.
Thanks.

Well, there's always E-Bay.
I know where there are a couple, but not easily attainable (Junkyards not
very near my hometown). Where are you from?

You want to try www.car-part.com. You can probably find one close to you,
but I know there are a couple 87-88's at Amherst Oakham in MA.

Did you try a Toyota dealer? http://www.toyota-parts-dealer.com/parts.htm
has one listed for $45. Look in the hood section under collision parts.

Are there any junk yards in your area Hachi? I need some parts for my
67 Coupe de Ville and there used to be some nice yards out your way
years ago.

Dude, you're going to be awfully hard pressed for a '67 CdV!

Most everyone around here now crushes 'em when they hit 12-15 years old.

That's from the rust - Get thee to the Net, pilgrim... ;-)

Out here in the greater Los Angeles area there are wrecking yards
specializing in almost every brand and model imaginable. You can find
shops specializing in Mustang parts, Corvette parts, Fairlady (Datsun
Z) parts, DeLorean "Snowmobile" parts, Opel GT parts, Porsche Parts,
Rolls Royce parts, Model T parts...

Ed Cholakian Enterprises Inc. ( www.allcads.com ) is a big '40's and
'50's Cadillac dismantler, collector and restorer, and he has a big
yard with Caddies going back to the thirties. And a warehouse full of
restored cars. Call - if they don't have it, they can help you find
it. Word has it they're good people.

Then you have the Petersen Automotive Museum, the Nethercutt (San
Sylmar) Collection Museum with a huge automotive reference library...
Heck, Jay Leno's private car and motorcycle collection is big enough
he could start a museum too.

We have a wonderful thing called a movie industry, and they call the
specialty collectors to rent proper period cars for film and TV
shoots. And if a certain period car needs a bit of fixing up for the
'role' (or one of the actors wrecks it during a take) they need
specialty parts, so there's a healthy market.

There were three or four dismantling yards in Southern California
that were either Corvairs Only or had special sections set up for them
- some had to expand out to 'all early Chevrolets' to pay the rent,
but still had a large selection of goodies. Haven't needed one
lately, but they should still exist.

And of course, there are the Toyota Specialists including Marv
Specter ( www.sor.com ) who does everything and anything LandCruiser
with a bit of Hilux - Tacoma - Tundra and SUV's thrown in.

By what I see of modern teenagers now that sounds like a good
idea for them too... :)

I'm in Victoria, BC. Wreckers around here but not many Supras in 'em. The
only one I could find within 200 miles came with a hood ..for mega bucks of
course. eBay is another story: $US20 + rediculous s/h rates to Canada.
With one seller, he had so many badges (of different makes and models) it
definitely made me wonder how many were stolen ..mine perhaps?
Local Toyota dealer wants $65+, special order, 8 weeks.

Nah.. I just thought I'd ask around this NG to see if anyone had one kicking
around is all.

Hah. Must be a growing cottage industry, huh. More than likely why several
guys on eBay have piles of different emblems and badges for sale on their
sites. Wonder how much they pay their friends for fencing priviledges? So
I can see why they go missing - - dealer sales lots must just cringe.

When I was working at a Toyota Dealer, they would Have ONE new Celica, and
it was kept IN the showroom, and any used Calicas were parked in the
Service Dept at night. They found they couldn't leave them outside! And
this was in a farily small, quiet town!!!

Hah. Yeah. I'm beginning to wonder if it is all worthwhile going through
the hassle of locating one online. Mestillthinks those that are on eBay are
probably from dealer lots like you suggest.
