alright, when i initially start the truck it puffs out a bit of blue smoke, my dad says valve seals and from what i can see nothing suggests otherwise. my question is how hard and what all is involved with changing the valve seals or messing around in there in general? the haynes manual flipped me off said take it to a dealer... i don't wanna pay 300-600$ just cause they want to say they are worth it...

With the proper equipment you can replace them right on the truck w/o pulling the head. You need a fitting so you can pump compressed air into the spark plug hole, and IIRC you may need a special tool for the Toyota springs. Do some surfing and you find the specific info.

its real simple. I have done it with air but I like using a rope. pull the plugs thread a white clothes line in the hole, as much as possible. turn the crank by hand to push the rope against the valve using the pistons. I dont like using air because if a valve leaks you can drop a vavle into the piston area.
