Anyone had any experience putting on 885's or 886's on a regular cab or access cab. Does this just result in a Stiffer ride, or do you get a higher lift out if it, or both. I realize they are usually just for double cabs and if you have a winch or something. Also, are longer shocks required for the 886's. Anyone tried putting heavier coils on regular or access cabs?

the ome coils are known to sag very quickly, so per your other post, you will have to trim a lot more than say if you went w/ the bilstein 5100 and oem coil.

also, if you get 3" of lift, you will end up having nearly no downtravel, so the truck will ride extremely rough. there are tradeoffs in all lifts, just need to know what your able to deal with.

honestly, i believe the best bet (if your a prerunner) is the allied 4" lift spindle (search before you ask any further questions!!!). this will lift the truck 4" while keeping the oem geometry of the front a-arms. you will have a nice ride, plenty of downtravel (relatively), good alignment and be able to fit some 285s pretty easily!

just an fyi.

oh, and ......SEARCH!!!

Let me know how they are. I haven't had anyone tell me how they really are that actually has them...everyone here just speculates. I dont want any sag, but I don't want it too hard either...maybe I will stay with 885's. thanks.

your a piece of work. what i told you about the OME is not speculation, its what i read directly from those who have run them when i SEARCHED before i posted questions concerning that lift!!

i have tried to be nice and answer your questions, but this is getting ridicules. you WILL have sag w/ the OME, just SEARCH and you can read threads of all kinds of guys that ran them and they sagged. some sagged over 1" since install. that is coming directly from someone who ran them!

ok, im done w/ trying to help!!

Yosh2000....don't take offense when none is intended....I haven't even responded to your particular post. I would love to use a 4" spindle...but I have a 4x4 Access Cab. My post was intended for someone else not even on this posting that "thought" they would be stiffer just because they are "intended" for the double cab. I intend on using longer shocks to increase my down travel, so that not the problem. Just wanting some real life person to person input on 886's on standard or acces cab. thank you 6shooter and menacekustoms for your input.

I have searched.

You are misinformed if you think longer shocks will increase down travel. You can remove your entire shock/coil assembly and you will still have limited down travel. Unless you are talking about the rear of the truck, which can be setup to have much more down travel than the front.

The only way to increase down travel, with 3" of lift is the LT kit, or a FabTech Procomp lift that lowers the entire cross member assembly that the lower a-arms mount to.

Agreed.^ I thought my 885s had sagged, but when I took them off to replace them with the 5100s (so much better BTW) I found out that the decrease in ride height was actually from the lower shock bushing being destroyed. Instead of the sleeve for the shock bolt being in the middle of the bushing, the rubber was so tore up, that the sleeve was actually on the top of the hole. I hope all of that made sense. What that resulted in was a 3/4" difference in where the shock bolt sat thus the appeared sagging. I had mine for almost two years and I beat the crap out of those springs, but they stayed intact. Just make sure you remove the swaybar, it will help. Also, is your trucck a V6 or a 4?

So how about it? Regarding zmtnbik's question, how much harsher a ride are the 886's verses 885's?

I have 884's on my double cab and they've sagged at least an inch. Per wheelers, I'm replacing the top spacer Toytec sent (.75?) with a 1.25" Daystar spacer which should give me another .5 to .75 inch lift to compensate.

zmtnbik didn't ask a question, but to answer yours, it's not really a question of harshness, but that of spring rate. You should have gotten 885s on your truck because of the weight. It wouldn't have sagged as much.

Sorry ... I meant snowboarder's question.

Yeah, in hindsight I should have gone with the 885s. I knew I wouldn't get the same amount of lift with the 884's, but sagging was not something I expected this soon. Toytec has offered me a good deal on 885's and I'm still torn on whether to get them or just install a spacer on my 884's, which would be about half the cost.

Agree. I will eventually end up going with the 5100 and 885 w/no top plate spacer.
I'm kind of in the same situation of wanting to make some slight changes. I want to get the full 3" lift so I'm thinking of getting the 885 kit from Toytec and set my 5100's on the stock setting. I need the full 3" so I can get the Total Chaos UCAs and have my wondering front end fixed. Why would you not use the top plate spacers with the 885 kit? Will it damage something or does it make the lift to high for the 4x4's. I'm curious about this.
