2.4 REC 5 spd trans.

My O2 sensor does not have the plastic clip between the sensor and where it ties in to the floor of the truck. It is just a sensor with cord that runs to the floor of the truck.

I am confused how to replace the sensor without the plastic clip that I have seen on others and in the repair manual.

Do you have to splice the wires? Any help will be VERY MUCH appreciated.

Thanks so much.

Andy,

Your O2 sensor might have been replaced with an after market generic. You should be able to find under the tape or wire wrap the connections that have been spliced. Make sure that you mark the wires before you cut. You can type in google search: 1993 toyota truck service manual. That is the OEM online. That will help you troubleshoot the issue. You can thank sb5Walker for that info. That manual has been a tremendous help for me in fixing issues on my new to the family 1990 runner. I have OEM's for all my toyota's except this newly aquired one. Be sure to look at the proper engine style, as it covers both the 22RE and the V6. Since there is no connector on the sensor you have 2 options: Get the NGK or the Denso which has a plug on it and go and find the other end and splice it on or, cut the connector off of the new sensor and splice that one on. I dont know if anyone esle would recomend this but it is an easy fix. I would spend the money on a good sensor not a cheap generic. That is just me though. I hope this helps.
