First welcome to ToyotaNation Cameron588 :hi:

It sounds like a great score :)
I would say the usual, when was the last time distributor cap, plugs, wires, vacuum lines etc have been done? Lots of things you can do when you buy a vehicle that old. It sounds to me like when it stalls it wets things with fuel and it takes a second to get a good spark again. But I'm no more than an amerature and it has been a long time since I have had a carbureted vehicle. Which I am assuming your 89 is. I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will chime in shortly.

Welcome to TN Cameron.
Is it the 4 cylinder or 6?
Change the cap/rotor/plugs/wires and see how things go.
If it doesn't help let us know.
