I have a 91 Toyota Corolla with 188K miles. Given the mileage I am going to have the timing belt replaced. While I have everything opened up under the hood what else should I do in terms of maintenance along with the timing belt? I don't know much about Toyota but given the labor for the timing belt it would be prudent to take care of any other maintenance items while it is all open. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it the 4A-FE engine?

Replace the crankshaft seal and camshaft seal. Replace the valve cover gasket, spark plug tube seals, and PCV valve grommet. You could replace the water pump since it's right there behind the timing belt just to save time/money if it were to go bad soon, but it's not as critical as on some engines where the timing belt drives the water pump and the engine is an interference type (broken timing belt bends valves). The 4A-FE is not interference.

You could also check the valve clearances when the valve cover is off. At 188K miles they are probably still within specs, but it's good to have a record to compare to down the road.

You could change the drive belts if they are getting old, but they can be changed pretty easily at any time.

Sorry for the delay in my reply. I have been out on vacation and just returned.

Honestly I'm not sure about much of the car other than to say it is a 91 Toyota Corolla. :(
We have looked all over the car for a VIN number and I cannot find one in the typical places. I purchases it in the Philippines from my wife's family. I have a copy of the title and on there the VIN number is EE90-9049196 and the engine code is 2E-2148615. I have tried VIN number look up for 11 digits but I don't seem to be able to find anything helpful. Do you know where I could go looking or someone who might send me to the right place to get information online? If not I will start with the local Toyota dealer and see how far I get.
