what kinda gain did u get?

Although you are feeling better acceleration; you will not get a huge HP gain. The setup you are using now is less restrictive than the factory airbox.sensei said:I just installed my Procarparts cheap-ass MAF adaptor and filter (~$15) and let me tell you, my ass dyno says huge gains!! I couldn't believe what a significant difference this mod made on my 181K mile Camry. I just wanted to share this with my fellow Camry people..oh, and the sound=awesome..she howls like a banshee!!

i made mine out of pvc, spare 3" exhaust pipe, and rubber couplings from a performance store.toyrolla said:Jon, do you have a CAI on your 3VZFE? Where did you get it from?

you are definitely right about the cold air though. cold air is more dense with oxygen than hot air is. more oxygen + more gas = greater performance.

I'ts definitely much more than just a placebo, I've been tuning around with Hondas since the late 80's and it's very rare that you make a small change such as this and actually "feel" a major difference, granted I didn't (and never will) dyno the Camry before and after, but qualitatively there is a noticeable difference in performance....the sound is sweet too though...UfoZ8myCow said:All you installed was a cone air filter and adaptor... I hate to tell you this, but what you are experiencing is more of a placebo effect than a real gain. I doubt you even got 1 whp out of that filter. Im sure it sounds better though... But I doubt any real gains were attained.

 Me too! After driving with ram air, CAI, and short ram intake systems for like 3 years in my 3VZ, once I put on the stock stuff on, pretty gained my low end back. However, I can honestly say that the top-end wasn't all there...the car seemed like it just didn't want to move as fast over 110kph (compared to short-ram sucking in hot air). Sure you might say it was the sound of the intake giving me the placebo effect, but I don't think the butt dyno was lying on this one. I still had a dryer duct directing air from the front air damn to the filter....Eye8Pussies said:
ask ricknsov's solara.....they were going to sell the car, so they put the stock airbox back in, and gained power....

If you do that, I would be impressed.
Especially if you do a V6.
Put an end to CAIs vs short RAMS vs Stock box discussions forever.
Either most of us will go out and buy something or lots of wrenching and tossing crap out. Go for it.
No fair taking bribes to go either way eh.
It's an opportunity not to be missed.
Viva Le Camry..
