I lost the motor in my 98 camry with the 2.2l engine. I happen to have a 95 2.2l and I wondered if they were interchangeable. They are both the 5sfe engines, I was told there was a difference in the newer motor with the pcv system that was not in the block on the older motor. Anyone have any insight? I dont have the old motor out of the 98 to compare it to but they look outwardly the exact same from what I remember.
Thanks for any help!!

you can use th 95 block only..

you will need to swap just about everything over from the 98 engine..
I have donr this personaly about a year back..

There is a thread on it if you search by my username...

What i swapped over from the 98 motor to the 95 block(what i can remember)

Head
oil pump
lower cast cover (for crank angle sensor)

Thanks for the response I have been out of town and not worrying about this.

Do you remember why these things had to be changed? The head makes sense, I think there are different castings for them, but the other things I had no idea were not compatible.I did get my old motor back but it is in pieces from the machine shop, the head was rebuilt but is not assembled, they want 150 to do it and set some clearance so I need to read up on that. Thanks for the help!!
