Hello, my 1.8L took a sh*t the other day; the main bearings went and there is possible damage to other components in the block. After long searches for rebuild kits to no avail, I've asked some parts specialists about buying the individual components, which would be close to $1000. So, of course I scratched that idea. My question is, since I will definetely be replacing my engine, should I swap in a 2.2L (wil it mate to the tranny?), or should I just stick with another 1.8, and does anyone know the cost (is there a place online where I can get maybe a JDM?) What should I expect in terms of cost either way? Thanks in advance for the help.
