95 Previa Interior lights problem

I inherited a 95 Previa which runs great, but I can't install new interior light bulbs without them blowing. They'll last a day at best, and then they are gone. Any ideas on this?

Did you ever solve this problem? Thats a strange one...

Check your voltage at idle and at higher engine speed. Your voltage regulator could be bad.
