Is there any way to get the doors on a 1996 to stay open? The front doors don't seem to have detents or whatever to hold the doors propped open. The driver's especially is always shutting as I'm getting out of the car. Super frustrating. I assume something broke or was excessively lubricated by a previous owner. Looking for ideas on how the mechanism works.

I don't have my car handy, but I think the part that holds the door open is a black C shaped plastic piece between the door and frame, between the hinges. It has I think, two u-shaped dimples in it, but it might not be strong enough if your car is at an angle or it's fairly windy.
