Hi all,
I am working on replacing my rack & pinion steering assembly in my 97 Avalon. I have everything disconnected EXCEPT the shaft from the gear assembly (gear assembly = pressure line & return line enter here) into the U-joint assembly. I got the bolt out but how do I separate the shaft from the U-joint assembly. I am a new user and this is my first post as I could not find any answers in other threads. If I missed them please let me know.

Hello, Vin, welcome to Toyota Nation! I see you also posted to our Avalon forums, so hopefully one of the members there will be able to help you out. Don't have any insight for you myself unfortunately....:dunno:

Once you remove the bolt on the u-joint you should be able to tap it off the shaft from the steering rack. Penetrating oil is your friend here.
