I'd like to find out where the instrument fuse box is on a 1997 Camry. I'm trying to figure out why the backup lights don't come on. It would be nice to find the maintance manual.

Thank you,

The online repair manuals ... including wiring diagram ... have become an issue recently... due to legal issues... You might check the Camry general discussion forum to see if anything is currently available...
Which engine do you have? Auto or manual?
The 10 amp gauge fuse ... located behind the coin tray, left of steering column, lower dash. However, problem might also be caused by neutral safety switch / back up switch ... located near transmission case. If you have a test light or meter, check for 12 v in the red wire with a black stripe coming out of the NSS switch on the transmission. ... reverse gear...emergency brake set....

This helped very much. I do have a meter. I checked the fuses thanks to you. I couldn't find that fuse panel. The next time they come into town I will have my floor jack so I can check the wire from the trany.

Thank you very much.
