i got a 97 celica the driver cv axle is bad, trying to remove it, everything i have read says it should pop out when prying on it. I've tried to pry it but there's not much room to get something in there to pry with, any adivice would be awsome.

If the transmission oil/fluid has been neglected (not changed routinely), the groove that the snap-ring is in gets a lot of the deposits that form in such oil, making it difficult to get the snap-ring to compress enough to release the shaft. You might want to find a frame/axle shop that can either help you with options or have them remove it for you. Of course, if they remove it, you can't take it back to your house to put a replacement half-shaft back in.

Not sure of the 97, but on the 5th gen, it's held in with a spring clip. You need a solid piece of wood and a bah (big a$s hammer) to knock it out.
