I have a 97 Rav, it has 108,000 miles and I have been the original owner.
I started to see foam on my oil cap. How common is the cylinder head gasket going bad on these cars? The car runs fine and the oil dipstick and coolant reservoir both look normal.

This might just be moisture condensation and nothing to worry about.

Make sure you are changing the oil at least every 5K miles.

I've got a friend's '03 here with a blown head gasket. She's got 104-K. I am pretty surprised as she hasn't overheated it. I'm about to start taking the head off of it now.
