Just wanted to share the results of my project over the weekend. Installed a double din Kenwood DDX7015 LCD screen (plays DVD, CD, MP3s, WMAs). It also will play a DVD encoded with MP3s. I have over 900 songs on one DVD!

Also installed a Kenwood KNA-DV4100 navigation system along with a sub amp.

I'm not sure how to post pics on here, but here goes...

Yes, it's a double din and you can watch DVDs on it. It also has a/v input output jacks to connect other devices such as PS2, or headrest monitors.

It's illegal to watch DVDs while the vehice is in motion or use some of the menus within the navigation system. Parking brake must be engaged. As a result there is a parking brake connection from the wiring harness. The good news is it can be bypassed by simply grounding it. The vehicle will always think the parking brake is on even when it's in motion.

Cost was about $2100 by purchasing the items online. Retail cost would be about $3000 plus any installation labor.
 that thing is sick and the price is sick too:barf:
Did you have any problems with the antenna going up everytime u turn on the system?

My 98 Avalon XL does not have a power antenna. It is integrated into the rear windshield. The Kenwood along with most other head units do have a connection for a power antenna so that shouldn't be a problem.
Me likey
hey itchy i am thinking of purchasing that same unit, I already have the kenwood 815DVD and i want to add the navi unit, any reviews on it how is the voice system, is it accurate with the locations and fastest routes, how is it comapred to the BMW and Mercedes navi system?
I like Kenwoods nav better than the Alpine. As for BMW nav systems, it's far better with better accuracy, faster calculations and a ton of more features. I'm currently running an Alpine setup in my other vehicle and if I had to redo it again I'd get the Kenwood.

I haven't used the voice system.
im pickin one up in october for 1100

Oops. What I meant to say is that aftermarket units such as Kenwood or Alpine are better than OEM BMW units.
