The driveshaft on passenger side spins freely when in park. Car made we loud clunking noise and total drivetrain failure. Thought is was the driveshaft. Please help.
Both wheels spin freely. Transmission make loud noise when in gear. Driveshafts are good.
Probably easier to just get a used transmission. You don't really know the extent of the damage, there's a good chance that there's more damage than just the differential. If you're really brave, you can pull the automatic transmission and put a manual one in with very little modification.Yup that's it. Thanks. Is it easier to change tranny or replace the gears? And thanks!
Yep, but it's a bit bigger of a job than a 5 speed. To put a 4 speed auto in your car, you'll need a torque converter, ECM and wiring harness from a 4 speed car. Not too difficult, since you have to pull the engine out to get to the transmission out anyway. Will a 4 speed overdrive transmission fit in the 99. 3 speed car? Please and thank you.
Not necessarily. You just need a support bar to hang the engine on. It is easier to separate an auto trans from the engine that a manual.Yep, but it's a bit bigger of a job than a 5 speed.
