The battery light on the dashboard went on today. I got the alternator replaced for my Solara a month ago and had the battery tested today and it was fine. What could be the problem?

I dont want to miss work and with the Christmas holiday there aren't any shops open. What can I do?

Take the car to AutoZone or O'Reilly's. They can tell you if the alternator is good or not.

Toyotas are sensitive to aftermarket parts like starters, coil packs, and alternators.

75aces has it.

I've had spotty luck with aftermarket alternators. I wouldn't be surprised if it was going bad.

Before you go there, check to see if the main battery cable is securely attached to the post on the alternator. I had one where it was loose and it was causing an intermittent check battery light along with melting the cap. Also, if you have a DMM, check to see what the voltage is when the car is on with all accessories on (AC, headlight + highbeams, hazards, radio, interior lights, defroster, etc). You should be 13.8-14.2v ish
