Howdy Gang, new to this site. I have a 99 SR5 2WD and has anybody noticed a problem that feels like their trans. is slipping?
Here's the scenario:
Heading into a corner, I apply the brake and slow down to about 15-20 mph. As I enter the corner and begin to hit the gas, the engine revs up about 1000 - 2000 rpm without actually putting the power down to the wheels (almost like i'm in neutral). Then, the trans. seems to "catch" and it continues forward. After that things are fine.
Same thing happens if I'm rolling towards a red light and the light turns green before I actually stop. I hit the gas to get moving and I get the engine revving without the response going to the wheels. It seems to only happen when the trans. is in a higher gear and needs to downshift. Is this just the nauture of the electronically controlled trans.?? Upshifting is perfect never had a problem. I bought this 99 SR5 August 04 with 55k on it and purchased a 2yr warranty that would cover replacing solenoids and speed sensors for the trans. but before I take it to a dealer and let them start wrenching ona otherwise perfect and low mileage vehicle (now reads 67.9K) I was curios if this is just normal or anybody else have a similar experience this problem.?
