I've got an 06 Taco DC TRD. The A/C light started to blink earlier this summer and eventually the compressor started to make a horrible noise on start up, so I pulled the fuse. Tried the fuse in again today and back came the noise and blinking. Any info? Does it sound like I need a new compressor?

Search the threads. Most likely it is the clutch plate. The plate is attached to it's hub by a rubber bearing/bushing. When the rubber cones loose of either the plate or hub it will slip when the plate gets engauged (by an electro magnet) to spin the compressor.

Try a bone yard for a new plate. I had same problem, there is a relevant thread.
It was cheaper to buy rebuilt compressor from Discount AC parts.

Its definitely your A/C compressor clutch! Like talon says its the rubber that has failed causing the compressor input shaft and pulley to turn at different speeds. These trucks have a sensor to monitor the compressor and pulley speeds are the same if not the a/c light blinks and cut power to the clutch. I just replaced the clutch my self and did not have to touch the a/c system itself. Had to go to the dealer for the part.
