First, I own a 1999 Toyota RAV 4, Manual, all wheel drive. My check engine light has been on for quite a while now and when I scanned it I got the code P0401, insufficient flow of something I forget. The guys told me it could be a number of things one of which is my PCV Valve and Hose, and they said it would be a couple hundred to fix, it doesn't sound right to me after doing some research could there be other problems? Or did I just mis hear him about PCV Valve.

Secondly, I am trying to sell it so I need to get the Check Engine light off before I start showing it to people. I know one thing that might scare people off, is when the car has been sitting for a while or if it is raining the first couple times you apply the brakes it squeals really loudly or if you have been using it on the road going 45 but you go through a drive thru where you are applying pressure to the breaks in short timing multiple times as you stop in a drive thru line it squeals. Is this normal? Does it happen a lot on this model?

Sorry if I sound like a rambling idiot, but any help would be very awesome as I am trying to sell my car so I can be with my Financee and her Family in Germany. ( Too expensive to ship a car, so I have to sell mine even though I love it so much!!)

CODE PO 401: THE PCM HAS DETERMINED THAT THERE IS A INSUFFICIENT FLOW IN THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM
I would check for vac leaks, most sensors can be tested with ohm meter
Brake noise does happen with some rotors and pads. After it rain just a little the next morning My rotors look like they have been setting in water for 2 weeks. All I do is when I leave I litely touch brakes a few times in the first mile, it sounds like they are grinding but they lasted 4 yrs and I got it used.
The part about drive thrus I think are the kind of pads.
Unless it has over 170,000mi I would be worried it has not be taken care of very good, not keeping oil changed and keeping it checked. I have found people who do this also do not do other upkeep when needed.
