Minnesota currently has a grant for the "Safe and Sober" program. This program is paying for more cops to be put on the road. But their goal is not that of normal duty cops. They are not to resond to calls. Their job is to watch for drunks, and people commiting safety violations. One of them being not wearing a seat belt.

Police officers are now out there gunning for you. They are watching ever car and every person. Speeding will be more closely monitored. This is used as probable cause to find anything else they might on your person at the time.

Form personal experience, I was driving home from work today and saw 4 different stops, in progress. One of which was even a semi truck. Besides that, I saw 7 cops on one strech of highway.

Specific highways that you should use caution include, hwy 94, hwy 494/694, and mainly 35E. 35E is one of the most monitored. Main focus between Mendota Hights and the Saint Paul Area.

So watch out. (Thank god I have a cop for a step-father:) )

Honestly, I think this is a good thing. Last summer I drove up from Iowa, through the twin cities and off on 94.... people were doing 75-80mph in one-lane construction zones. It was harrowing, cause it wasn't one or two drivers, it was EVERYONE. We're talking 80 in a 40.

They're doing that here too, especially Fri & Sat. Last night I saw an average of 1 traffic stop every 2 blocks for a good 5 miles... both directions. I saw an old Jetta w/exhaust accelerate maybe 3/4 throttle away from a light, never squealed the tires, never went over the limit, yet he got pulled over by a state trooper. Guess they're crackin' down on mods too.

Yeah, a lot of 94 has a 45mph speed limit, but no one slows down. It's about 60 through construsction if your lucky. Most times people are dumb and it comes to a dead stop. Like we have to wait for something when they are behind a barrier.

In one lane construction is insane though. I'd never push that. That's scary shit.

Hey, next time your in MN stop by. Not many TN Camrys in the area:)

When is this going to end!?!? It seems like it has been more than a week, but time goes slow when it sucks...

I was driving at 3AM on Friday night in a town of about 10,000 people, so it is not very big, and while I drove through town, I saw five police, two of which turned around and followed me for quite some time. I was surprised I didn't get pulled over since the cops do seem to pull over people for the smallest reasons if you are driving at the wrong time (and at 3AM there were more police on the road than "commuters").

Here is my mom's experience during this week during this year and last years program.

Last year: pulled over in Minneapolis for speeding, which she talked her way out of but still got slapped with a no-seatbelt ticket.

This year: speeding ticket

This year: she was driving the truck with a horse trailer to the vet in the cities. While she was on the highway the light turned yellow/red and she had to go through it (being that she was driving a truck with two horses in the back). She got pulled over for that as well.

This week sucks
