All

I have a 98' Camry and it has been fantastic till now.

Still engine/transmission is excellent, it is just that the electricals are bugging me every now and then.

About a month ago following things stopped working about (or exactly at) the same time:
1) power mirror adjusting
2) mobile phone charging outlet
3) digital clock

I am not too concerned about the clock, but I need the charging outlet and power mirror adjustment to be working.

My hunch is it is going to be a blown fuse. But to check the fuse I need to access the fuse box behind the dashboard. When I removed the panel which holds the mirror adjustment switch, I could see a bunch of fuses behind. But the only way to access these fuses will be to remove the dashboard. Or is there some other way I can access these fuses?

I have a Chilton's manual but it does not have a fuse diagram. I need to know which fuse is responsible for mirror, charger outlet, etc.

I would appreciate any help on this matter.

Thanks
Mahesh

How to access fuses behind the coin tray?
Is there a fuse that is responsible for any of the following:
1) power mirror adjustment
2) digital clock
3) 12V charging outlet

and is located behind the coin tray?

Thanks

The back of the coin tray should have a schematic of the fuse layout. My friend recently had this exact problem with his 98 Camry. He would replace the fuse and it would last 10 minutes to a couple of days. It turned out his phone charger was bad and causing the fuses to blow. He finally took my advice, after we checked everything and tried his phone charger in another car to test it. Guess what? It blew that car's fuse too. By the way, a long needle nose pliers works well to remove and install a new fuse.

Thanks for all the help. It was the fuse.

All 3 things are now working. Also, after you mentioned about the phone charger, I think I may have the same problem. I bought a very cheap ($5) phone charger somewhere online - not made by Motorola, but some generic company. That charger may have been the culprit.

Glad your problem was an easy fix.

Walmart sells most common cell phone chargers in their electronics department for around $10. At that price I wouldn't use that suspected one much longer.
