Hey-

New owner of a 2004 Camry SE that I want to do alot to. I understand there are some alarms that you can add onto your keyless entry. Anyone have any recommendations? Any to stay away from?

I have so not mechanically inclined so I won't be doing the instal myself. Thanks

get the clifford or viper alarms (same company). there great...and the higher models even have a remote start option.
Hey you again..oh wise one :) Thanks, yet again for the info. Just so I don't get ripped off, what's the ballpark for these? No more than 300?
haha yah, its me again..lol

well for me, i have a friend at bestbuy and he can get me a clifford alarm system/remote start/keyless all for 150 bucks...but the retail on that was like 375 (that includes installation tho).

you can get other systems without the keyless systems and alarm system without the remote start which are much cheaper.

or you can get the standalone alarm system or the standalone keyless system....and those are extremely cheap.

but you might want to go to bestbuy and check out there security systems (there usually in the car audio department)
I recommend Viper. I use to be a installer, so I've installed tons of them. :)

They start at about $200, that includes installation.

Like 88LE said, basic system at 200.00 can go up to 400.00 of course thats with all the bells and whistles. DEI is the main company so Viper, Clifford and Python are all teh same units.
Thank you thank you! :) I am gonna go to Best Buy this weekend and hopefully get my tints but on too! :) You buys rule, thanks for alla the help

Ok Viper It is...but one ? about keyless entry

OK I have decided I want a Viper and I want it to have a Remote Start on it. Will I be able to utilize my keyless entry with that or will I have to get something separate? Sorry for yet another question about this....
there is a viper system that has the remote start, the keyless enry, and the alarm system all in one. it even has a little screen thing on the remote to show u where ur car gets touched i think? (i kno it has the screen, but i dunno what it does exactly...but ull see what im talkin bout...they sell it at bestbuy)

my friend has that viper alarm system...its really nice
i should have known you would have ALLL the answers. i am gonna own you one..thanks again.
haha, the viper model number is 791vx...and it runs for 475 at bestbuy w/ install.

and..."i am gonna own you one"?

:p
alright alright, OWE lol so i don't proofread. I am going to OWE you one oh great one :D thanks again..I swear you know everything....i'm impressed!
Viper is a great brand, so I say definately go with it. Stay away from Code Alarm (Circuit City carries it). It's pure garbage, and I know, I sell it. Actually... the best thing to do is buy the alarm and all the parts at BB and then goto CC to get it installed because most the time CC guys do a better job.

Viper alarms have a door lock / unlock output. So you'll use that for your keyless entry.

Even the lowest model (350 HV) has it. Although it doesn't have a built on remote start, but you can add it on (remote start module).

Edit: Make sure you tell the installer to hookup the door lock / unlock wires. Some shops charge extra for it, even though its only 2 wires.

And relays, well for those that don't already have keyless entry.
^ You don't need relays for Toyotas that have power door locks.

The relays are on the car, so you just use the wires on the alarm as a trigger. ;)

Now if you don't have power door locks, you'll need relays and door actuators.
