Hi Guys,

never owned a vitz/echo etc but I thought this would be a good place to ask my question :)
I post alot over on the lexus forms (i have an es300) but never maintained/used a echo.

I am looking at a 2004 ce model, totally basic, no PS pump or a/c and a manual.
a few questions, i'd really appreciate the feedback.

2004 echos have..timing chains?
its a manual, clutch and brakes replaced a few months ago. not sure if its fluid has ever been changed.
it comes with winter tires (we are in canada) mileage is about 204000 km

the seller is asking 2,500. what do you guys think? any advice for a newbie?

I just bought - 04 echo hatchback, manual transmission with 183k km on it. A little leak in the rear exhaust, but the car is solid and I paid 3300. Good deal!

I also read somewhere that this model has a timing chain, but it does not have one on mine. Timing belt for me.

Hey there. thanks for the reply. I ended up not buying that 2004 because it didnt have power steering or an A/c.
I bought a 2000 echo (older yes) with 235k, PS, A/c (not working), and an exhaust issue (which is getting fixed for $100) for 1,700 for the car and 2,250 all in after taxes and registration.
needs a few things like tires, i found decent winters for 150 on rims. Needs all seasons though soon, so my cost will end up closer to 2,700/2,800 after everything is fixed.

Your price is good, esp for such low mileage. Why do you have a timing belt?!! are you sure?! I am pretty sure mine has a chain so do most 1nz-fe engines?
