Hi guys

Is an aftermarket air intake worth it for the 3.4 V6? Or just stick with something like a drop in k+n air filter?

Thanks

You won't see any real gains from an aftermarket intake, maybe except a lighter wallet.. I would get a TrueFlow dual stage foam filter and maybe do the deckplate mod.

I agree with Humanoid. I did a K&N FIPK on my 3.4 V6 and my wallet got lighter, I didn't notice any significant or measurable gain. If I had to do it over again, I would do the K&N or similar drop in. The FIPK looks cool but not many people are looking under the hood.

It's just a hole you cut into the stock airbox - and use a deckplate so you can fill it in when needed. I've considered doing it, read a few posts of slightly better mpg and makes a slightly beefier noise.

Thats what I figured.

Drilled a bunch of holes to help my old 84 22r breath all around where the air filter sat. Dropped in a k+n. No doubt it was getting more air, but no measurable gains that was for sure.
