Hey Folks. Its summer heat here so its time for the air conditioner to stop working. Last year it would go out only when it was on hi. After letting it rest it would start back up. 15 to 20 minutes. It would be fine on low to med. Yesterday it stopped altogether. I replaced the heater relay found in the engine compartment and that didn't do it. Any suggestions?

My guess would be it's either the blower motor or the blower motor resistor. My guess is the resistor first since only one speed went out previously. Replace that, then if the fan doesn't work, replace the blower motor too, and you'll be set for a while. You can also check the actual switch in the HVAC unit. In fact, you can check all three of these components with a multimeter and the FSM.

If its the wires getting to hot and disconnecting can I put some dialectic grease on em and hope?
No...that won't work. I believe the wire going to the blower is undersized. As time goes on, the heat cycles creates less contact to the blower contact tabs. Yer gonna have to clean the tabs and connector off and kinda hope...but it will eventually fail again.

I cut my connector off and put the jumper in. Haven't had any problems since...although you'll need to be careful you don't accidentally knock the jumper off. I guess you could git some high temp connectors from the hardware store and use those versus the aluminum crimp ones like I have. ;)

I still want to replace that entire wiring run with some 10 gauge wires/connectors. I think I've traced it directly to the fan switch... :D
