I just bought a 2004 4 cyl and I changed my air filter. I noticed in there was a second air filter above the one that you change but it looked like it was apart of the air duct. I was really dirty too, can you clean or change that filter. Thanks for all the help in advance.

I use a shop vac and then a clean damp rag to completely clean out any grit and dirt from all parts of the air box each time I change the air filter. These is a secondary filter (normally non replaceable) mounted into the top of the airbox. You can try to vacuum it to get it cleaned up.

But if it is really embedded with dirt and looks like it might be clogged you may need to replace that part..not sure how that would happen unless someone ran the car with no air filter or a bad or damaged air filter in it.

That's a charcoal filter put there to absorb fumes from the fuel tank which are routed to the intake tract. I'd remove it and throw it away if you think it's dirty.
