85 Pickup 4x4 Performance r22
motor has about 500 miles on it
it started to not crank unless i put a cap of gas into the carb, after checking ALL my vac lines i decided to just swap the carb out
the one i got was SUPOSETO be a direct swap and is basicly identical except for the solenoid Plug and wires
this is a US version my truck evidently has an Asian version with the round green plug
far as i can tell the solenoid wire and the plug are the only diference
CAN i just cut the plug and attach it to my new US one omiting the - wire for the solenoid

No I'm not
I thought it was the mechanical so I replaced it but when I took it off it was giving fuel out of the line but I already bought it so I just replaced it anyway
I've looked it up LOTS of people have had this issue but no one seems to know exactly what caused it

It was running great till it ran outta gas one day when I cranked it to let it run like I do about once every week
After that it wouldn't start without putting gas into the carb
Now it just won't stay running

You can cut-off the plugs and splice the wires together, just make sure you get them right. The +12V to the solenoid is constant, the emissions ECM supplies the ground to control it.
You may want to try rebuilding your 31 year old carb first.
