Aisin brand?

I know they make OEM parts for Toyota. :shrug:

I might be needing a new water pump soon and found this brand. Hummm, might consider this now...

Yes, they make good stuff. They were (are?) a supplier/manufacturer of all sorts of stuff. As an example, many Volvos have Aisin-Warner transmissions, another partnership manufacturing deal. I know because my 940 turbo has one.

Anyone here using this brand? I heard it is the same as OEM Toyota parts?

While Aisin is a major Toyota parts supplier (and indeed do manufacture many Toyota OEM parts), that doesn't mean Aisin parts are 100% interchangeable with Toyota parts.

As mentioned, they also supply parts to other automakers, particularly transmissions: Did you know for instance that the 6-speed manual in the Toyota Tacoma is the same gearbox used in the Cadillac CTS?

That being said, Toyota is the major shareholder in Aisin, owning almost 30% IIRC. They manufacture many OEM parts for Toyota.

Cadillac CTS with the 3.6L engine uses the Aisin AY6 transmission.

Yeah that really is crazy...I just had a bad experience with a Aisin water pump on my 2002 Sequoia, came with a broken impeller on back, but I knew they made some factory Toyota parts. Had no idea they made such a range and those trannies were the same.
