I got a used Toyota Certified Highlander. I know it needs an alignment can i take it to the dlr and have them do the alignment. I think this is something they should have done when they did the inspection and certified it. Am I correct or would they make me pay for the alignment?

If you haven't put in over 100 miles on it since you bought it, they should do the alignment for free. Although some dealer would probably be jerk about it and say "hey you probably went over a pot hole on your way home from the dealer." At least that's what I was told when I bought my used certified Camry and I needed an alignment.

that's exactly what they are telling me, giving me the rounaround. They say that it won't cover the alignment not even with a warranty.

It should have been done as part of the certification, you have every right to expect them to fix it. Go to Toyota.com and research the certification and you will see it should have been done. Heck I even had them put in new floor mats because the book says they should be like new or they have to replace them.

I managed the TCUC program at a shop for a few years, and I can tell you that an alignment is not on the checklist. It calls for the vehicle to track straight on a level road, so if that were not the case then yes, I would align the suspension. The used car manager must really be a dick if you did just purchase it recently though. It's a freaking alignment. How long ago did you purchase it?
