i was just wandering...from my understanding the 2zz engine is pretty much an all aluminum engine... except for the rods i think they are steel, is it just me or was this just a bad idea for toyota techs? i mean thats just from my understanding but correct me if im wrong.

My 1990 5S-FE got Alum head and steel cams. The cams run on the alum head. As long as both parts are smooth and nothing sharp get in between, they're good.
You can't really have a 100% alum engine. Don't think alum crank is strong enough. Valves gotta be steel or titanium.

It just doesnt sound like a good idea....like it would be easy or very capable of some kind of wear...
