Its a brand name, yes, but they use a particular type of supercharger, namely a centrifugal type. Basically, it's the compressor scroll of a turbo but belt driven from the engine directly instead of driven by the exhaust. There's a built in gear box to spin the compressor wheel at high enough speeds to be effective. Similar to a turbo, it builds boost up with rpm instead of being linear like a roots or screw type.
