I have a question regarding this style antenna I just installed it last night. My concern is that with it being very stiff over time will it weaken the antenna mount that it is fastened to, I looked at it after work and if you put you finger on the tip and move it you can see the whole mount move.

So I'm just curious how the antenna and mount will hold up ofer time, I love the look and the reception is great as well. I know several people on this site have them so any input would be great, thanks for your time.

its not something you should loose sleep about  its like 1/4 of the height of the OEM right? There should be little to no wind resistance on it. I think you will be fine.

yea thats the unfortunate thing about stubby's, I was going to get one but realized on more then one occasion my whip antenna has been hit by a low hanging branch. Luckly as a whip it does what it needs to and flexes. I guess it's just a trade off, looks cool but more prone to breakage. What length did you get? obviously the longer the more wear you'll put on that mount. I'll stick to my stocker, besides around here a stubby is just one more thing for effin kids to steal, they already stole my aluminum valve stem caps from BOTH my Eagle talon and my Tacoma OEM ones

I bought the 21" from performance products for 15 shipped, it is just a bit over cab height, and like I said I know several people have them I was just curious to how they and the mount would stand up. So far I am pleased on the looks and the fit.

I've got a 21" AMI stubby on my truck - replaced the stock antenna after a bird nailed the antenna & windshield...

I bought it about 1.5 years ago - 18,000 miles ago and it still works like a charm... Every now and then I retighten the antenna to make sure it doesn't go anywhere.

Same one I have. I've seen no problems in about 5K miles, which included a couple of highway trips (400+ miles).

Mine is 2 years old, and hasn't caused a problem. It also hasn't loosened itself either.

Put a dab of blue Loctite on the threads. Put a rubber hose over the base of the antenna and then grip it with pliers and tighten it. The hose will keep you from scratching the antenna. The rubber hose also grips the antenna good, but not so much that you could strip the threads.

Where did you buy yours?
I believe I got mine from JCWhitney.com. All the prices seemed to be about the same but if I remember, they were one of the lowest. And yeah, do what Pb said, throw a little blue loctite on there and you won't have to worry about it. I didn't even use pliers. I just used my hands to screw it on as much as I could. I think the 21" is a good length, although I think the next one down would probably look good too.
They claim that those antennas boost reception..I don't know so much about that. I definitely didn't loose any reception but I didn't experience a noticeable increase either. All in all I'm very happy w/ mine. I hate that huge antenna that comes stock.
