My daily commute is on a road which has a minimum of one accident a week. I always drive back, keep my distance, and hog the right lane the entire 30-35 minute ride home. A few days ago, in the dark, in the rain, in stop and go traffic, someone decides to text and slams me at 25-30. I was getting ready to accelerate with my foot off the brake and accelerator so the impact threw my car forward. Luckily I didn't hit the car in front of me (mainly because rain means I leave a good 2-3 car distance)

Any advise? I'm not too worried about the car but my lower back's been progressively hurting worse by the day. My neck and shoulder don't hurt much anymore. I was driven to the ER the same day and got checked out by a doctor who said I just suffered major whiplash and told me to just take Tylenol continuously (There has to be something better right?)
You can tell a 17 year old car held up pretty well. The only damage is the rear bumper, a small kink in the spare tire area, and one of the connection bolts at the muffler to mid pipe snapped. The other car was a 2012 Nissan Sentra.

Dang. Its good you are alright most part. The car held up well. Make sure to keep track of your issues and activities as you have up to 3 years. But if you do not loose work time insurance will use that loophole to not pay you. Don't say much to insurance. You need to take off the rear bumper to check on internal damage.

As for the pain tylenol is wrong (its more fever reducer than pain killer); use ibuprofen/naproxen (eat prior. do not exceed 750mg every 6 hrs) if that works for you. Short term is fine but not long time. Try other ways, heat pad, tiger balm, yoga/accupunture techniques etc than meds.

That nissan looks to be bad shape for little or no damage to the rolla.

$1300 to fix according to the other party's insurance. Apparently the muffler cracked by the connection. Found a place that'll fix it for $90 (I'd rather weld my old muffler than get an aftermarket after hearing horror stories of aftermarket mufflers rusting out in a year or two). As for the rear bumper and paint, would you get it fixed?

Go through your own Insurance, that is why you pay it.. They should not raise your rate since it was not your fault and you should get your deductible back... which everyone should have set-aside for this reason.

Well the other insurance company gave me a check for $1305. In PA, I can choose where to get it fixed or to not get it fixed which.
I called my insurance company who suggested that I deal with the other party's insurance for car repairs and my insurance company for medical expenses.
