I'm leaving work and heading north out of the parking lot, left turn signal on but with the right of way (no stop/yield signs for me), idiot heading south and turning right runs the stop sign. Damage down the entire passenger side of the bed. It honestly doesn't look horrible, the fender flare will need replacement and some paint work in other spots but other than that, not as bad as you might think. I am livid, though. Dude tried to say he stopped (he never did) then changed his story when the cop arrived and he realized I had a witness.

The problem is, it's considered private property so I don't know how this is going to work out. A lady I work with was a witness so that may help. Ever since they put that stupid strip mall north of our property (I work for a government contractor; about 1000 people on site) and connected it with our entrance road, we all knew this would be a problem. The bottom line is, people in SC drive like crap (Horry County = highest traffic deaths by county in the nation).

Yes, worse things can happen but things overall have not been going so well for me lately and with the illegal alien drunk driver that rear ended me on 9/15, this truck has seen it's fair share of damage in the 6 short months I've owned it. These $500 deductibles can get expensive.

Just wanted to vent. Back to your regular programming.

Wilson, sorry to hear that.
You have a police report, right? In that case, it should not matter that this happened on private property. It happened to me before, left the mall area, stopped at a red light and was rear ended. That was on private property as well, but the insurance paid, no problems.
The deductible should not matter, as the other drivers insurance will pay and not yours, correct?
Can the truck be driven? Good that you (and everybody else involved) is ok, that's most important.

Your insurance company will get your story, the other persons story and the witnesses story. They will then fix your truck and recover the damages from the other drivers insurance. They will then give you your deductible back. You will be out the $500 for 6 months or so.

Sorry to hear that. I know what you mean about the horry country drivers. I saw an F-250 up to its tailgate in the ditch at the Carolina Forest light yesterday.

Hopefully the insurance will pay out no problem, and you won't have any expenses. Do you know where you plan on taking it to get it fixed? My gf told me about a guy that restores old cars that did some work on her mustang, she said he did a really nice job. I don't know much about him, only his name and number. Let me know if you want more information, or where you go otherwise.

Here's to a speedy recovery of the truck.:chug:

^Thanks, dude. I'm going back to Beach Auto Body in Surfside. They did a great job so I'm fine with them. Btw, that won't be the only vehicle you see in a ditch around here.

Funny thing is, we (my wife and I work in for same place) were heading to the bank to deposit the $300 that was refunded from the last accident. Seriously, no lie. We only got $300 back from that because, as an illegal alien, the driver in that accident had no insurance so I had to pay the $200 uninsured motorist deductible.

[feel sorry for myself]
Like I said, things can always be worse (until you're dead, right?) so in the grand scheme, it's not the worst thing on earth. I would just like a freaking break with SOMETHING for once.

Yes, he apparently does have insurance. He flashed an insurance card and in the end did seem like a fairly straight up dude who just made a mistake. Even though the cops don't investigate or do a report on "private property", a state trooper did arrive to make sure everything was OK and gave us forms to use which we filled out in front of him. I'm fairly confident in the info I received and I do have a picture of his plate.

I'll get pics when I have time. I'm so annoyed that I don't even want to look at it right now.

He was driving an '07 Ram 1500 Hemi, btw. I even commented on how good it sounded as he drove off.

damn dude, you got off easy, count your blessings. my fiance got into 3 accidents in 18 months. 1st was 15k in damage to our bnez, 2nd minor bumper damage, 3rd one finally totalled it out. got rear ended when we were at a stop, chey avalanche traveling 40+mph. the trunk was compleltey demolished, then slammed us into a tacoma infront of us. smashed up the whole front end. the tacoma drove off with a tweaked rear bumper and a scuff on teh tailgate.

^Yeah, I was pretty upset about it (the first accident) because the dude at first tried to run until he realized there was a cop 3-4 cars back who saw the whole thing. The guy in the passengers side did run into the woods, though. I was pretty upset until a friend of mine said to me, "Look at it this way: at least he didn't crash into a family." Yeah, I'd rather he rear end me than kill someone further down the road, no question.

Called the insurance adjuster today. I'm going to hold off a getting it fixed until they hear from his insurance. That way, they'll pay it all and I won't have to pay the deductible. A request to DMV was put in today for all his info so it may take a couple weeks which is OK for now. I want it fixed by spring, though.

There are some real LOUSY DRIVERS out there! I have to deal with them DAILY here in Northern California and a lot of them are unlicensed and uninsured!! If they hit you they scatter like rats going down a sewer never to be seen again and guess who ends up paying all the bills......YEP!! You got that right!

Any way, I feel your pain but at least you weren't hurt.
