looking to get some 16x8's with 4" backspacing, and will be running 285's. Just concerned how far the tires will be sticking out from the sides of the fenders and if theres excessive rubbing. it will be 3" lift in the front.

B

1) I'm running 16x8s, 4.25" backspacing, 285/75-16, lift is approx. 2" after "sag".
2) Mine stick out, maybe, 1/8", but it is enough to sling everything all along the side of the truck! Mud, road grime when wet, everything they contact.
3) What do you consider excessive? All the trimming I had to do was inside the wheel well, and all plastic. Took me about an hour to trim and re-trim until no rubbing lock-to-lock, forward and reverse.

*I also had to remove the front mud flaps.

hope this helps.

P.S. Make sure you consider that your vehicle may fail an inspection, depending on your local laws. I have yet to have mine inspected (yearly here), but I have been told it will probably pass...?

I'll find out soon enough I guess. How far yours will stick out will vary depending slightly on tread design too. You' be better off with 4.5" backspacing.

i consider excessive anything i cant take care of with a 5lb sledge. :D i just dont want the tires to end up 2"+ past flares
All I used was a small pair of scissors and a dremel, no sledge

Also, no 2" past flares. ;)

Like I said, yours should only stick out about 1/8" to 1/4" further.
