Driver-side loop is used during shipping for tying down, and it IS not be used as a recovery point. I remember reading a discussion about it on Ttora almost a year ago or so....

Keep in mind that you want to avoid pulling people out in reverse. I can't remember exactly, but I think the reverse gear is weak and you can run into potential tranny issues from this.
