Sorry, it's not covered by the powertrain warranty (engine, transmission/transaxle, front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, seatbelts and airbags)I have 2008 toyota sienna and one of the struts(front) started leaking. I am out of the regular warranty but still got the power train warranty. I was wondering if it was covered under that? I am guessing no but just want to make sure.
TIA
Thx for confirming the bad news. I got 50k on the car so no working something out with service manager. Oh well, I guess will have to fix this problem out of pocket and time to start looking for a new car. Didn't think toyota would start eating got out of pocket repairs this soon.Sorry, it's not covered by the powertrain warranty (engine, transmission/transaxle, front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, seatbelts and airbags)
Although if you only have a few miles over 36k miles, you could talk to the service manager and maybe fix something with him...maybe...
Generally speaking struts are "wear and tear" items and not sure they'd be covered under any warranty..ever...but not 100% sure on that. In any event...your note is kinda intriguing to me. 50K miles is kind of low to replace struts...I'm used to more like 70K to 90K but it all TOTALLY depends...on the vehicle...driving style, driving conditions, etc. You can cause a strut to leak at 5 miles if you slam into the right pothole at a good enough speed. But what I'm most curious about is you are thinking of throwing in the towel on the Sienna after 2 years and 50K miles simply cuz a strut is leaking?? Or have you had other problems? IF this has been your only issue I'd say you are doing VERY well with it!! And will lose a good chunk of change in depreciation over the first two years of vehicle life.Thx for confirming the bad news. I got 50k on the car so no working something out with service manager. No other problem with the vehicle. With that being said once problem start they usually do not stop. I would rather get money out of the car instead of waiting and ended up with car that is worth nothing.Generally speaking struts are "wear and tear" items and not sure they'd be covered under any warranty..ever...but not 100% sure on that. Never towed and rarely more than 3 people in the car.Do you tow or carry a full load most of the time??
That's a very interesting, unique, and expensive philosophy. It's a simple reality of the physical universe that vehicles require maintenance..some more than others....depending on many factors....nothing lasts forever. In the grand scheme of things in our world one leaking strut as the sole issue over 2 years and 50K miles is really nothing at all. You seem to have an extreme aversion to having to do any maintenance on a vehicle? What exactly do you expect from a vehicle...drive it forever doing nothing more than fill the gas tank and oil change every 100,000 miles or so? Maybe you should lease and turnover to a brand new vehicle every 2 years? No other problem with the vehicle. With that being said once problem start they usually do not stop. I can't lease as result of me driving way to much as otherwise that is exactly what I would do. I do not mind doing monthly payment on a vehicle as long as there is nothing wrong with it. The maintenance i want to do on a vehicle is tie rotation, oil change, brakes etc. Anything that starts to cost $500 and above means time to get a new vehicle. That's a very interesting, unique, and expensive philosophy. As for ending up with a car that is worth nothing....Unless and until it's time to sell it....The only thing that matters is what the vehicle is worth to you. I have a 1997 Pathfinder with 150,000 miles on it that is worth about $40,000 to me....cuz when/if I have to get rid of it that's what I will have to spend for what I want to get to replace it.
