I installed an Alpine CD stereo in my car and I used the original plug, no wires were cut nothing, and I have my four OEM speakers and two tweeters connected with the front speakers.

Now I just got :
  • 2 Pioneer 6x9 speakers. Model SP-6980 250watt 4 way speakers
and a
  • 1 KENWOOD 8" Tube type Sub woofer enclosure. Model KSC-W800
I'm going to replace my back speakers with the 6x9's , my question is...

from where should I get the wires to connect the subwoofer enclosure?????

Thanks

the subs get their signal from RCA wires, hopfully your alpine radio has RCA ports in the back, that is what you'll be use to give the subs the sound, for power you'll have to run like a 4 gauage wire from the battery on back to the trunk, then simple 16 gauage wire from the amp to the subs

ok, My stereo have a rca connection on the back, but I don't have an amp..just this

should have replaced the front speakers. components put out a way better sound than 6x9's.
you need to get an amp wiring kit, it should come with an rca cord with the remote turn on wire as well, power wire 4 gauge, ground wire 4 gauge and terminals, etc. you will connect the power wire from your battery all the way to the trunk (with an inline fuse) all the way to your trunk where it will connect to your sub (im guessing that is a bass tube with an internal amplifier). Then you attach the ground from the sub/amp to a grounding point near your trunk. Then just plug the rca cables to the back of ur hu and connect the remote wire and tune and stuff and you should be set
I don't think it has an integrated amp because the box has only this connector

So that means that I need and amp????

If so, should I get a 3 channel amp to connect the two pioneers 6x9 and the box ?? and leave the front stock alone ??

then you are missing a key component to your system, the power coming out of your head unit will not power subs dude, you NEED an amp!!!! it is a must, and no don't get a 3 channel amp!!! your subs require way more power than your interior speakers could handle, your best bet, if you wanted a half way decent sound system would be to get a mono amp, for your single sub. Then get a 4 channel amp to power your interior speakers, why just power the rear??? that would be kinda weird
^ Yeap, from the looks of it you will need an amp. That sub you have is just the sub in an enclosure without an integrated amp inside. If you are going to get an amp, might as well get a 4-channel amp or more. It'll sound weird if you have an amp driving the rear speakers and the head unit driving the front speakers. Sound imaging and quality will be uneven. Here's my suggestions: If you really want to keep that sub, then get a 5-channel amp that can provide power to all four speakers and the sub. Or you can just let the head unit power the four speakers and get a powered sub (one that has a built-in amp) so you don't have to get an external amp, just hook up the RCA cables, power wire, and ground wire. By the way, with your system right now you don't need a power wire bigger than 8 gauge. Even a 10 gauge power cable is good enough for some powered sub since they aren't very strong.
ok I don't have any money to buy an amp right now, I got this box and the two pioneers for $35. I'll see if I can buy an amp..I'll check my local craiglist..

Thank you very much..

I'll come back for some feedback on the amps that I find..

thanks again
need any recommended amps?

get something that goes within your rms range for your speakers and sub. you dont want to underpower or overpower anything. id say invest in some front speakers. 6.5" is wayyyyy better then 6x9 speakers and plus your sitting in the front anyways. your going to hear most of your music in the front.

4-chan amps i recommend class A/B not class A amps.
Mono amps i recommend 1 ohm or you could get 2 ohm.

idk if i helped but im trying. good luck on the sounds
Replace your front speakers with components and leave your rears alone will sound like better. My system sounded weird with stock front speakers and Polk 3-way 6x9s on the back on a Kenwood HU.
might as well just stick the back ones in and power them off the hu and get a mono amp for ur sub
6 1/2 on the front... Do I need adapters for that???? I'll buy 2 front speakers.

I have an 4 channel amp Pioneer. It is rated at 30 watts Rms x 4 or 60 watts rms x2

My 6x9 are 4 way 250 W

What should I get for the front to work with this amp????

Thanks guys you are helping me a lot because I don't know crap about this, this is like ancient Egiptian lenguage for me.

something like this???

You have a 4 ch amp, 2 ea. 6x9 rears, and a passive subwoofer.
Here's what I would do if I were you:

Let the head unit power the fronts (for now). See how it sounds. I did upgrade my fronts, 6.5" Pioneers, and just let the head unit power them. I did it for 3 reasons; 1) those front speakers are closer to your ear than the rears, 2) I added Dynamat Xtreme to my front doors so the fronts were more efficient already, and 3) it's a pain in the a$s trying to route speaker wire through the door harness (it's not worth using the crappy factory wiring if you are going to amplify the fronts).

So with your amp: Use 2 channels (one for left, and one for right) to power the rear 6x9's. Then bridge the remaining 2 channels on the amp to power the subwoofer! Viola! Not half bad considering you already have the equipment on hand.

p.s. those front aftermarket speakers ft w/ no problems....but the 6x9's required some work/cutting for my application.

If you're not entirely satisfied, then buy front components and amplify them w/ another amp.

I like the idea...and more because I don't have to spend money.
I think that whatever I do it will sound better than stock (don't you think???) and I only spent like $70 for everithing.

Thanks guys..I'm open for more ideas...
If you don't want to spend any more money, eurohazards description will work. However, I'd prefer to amp some aftermarket speakers in the front rather than the ones in the rear.

When I had stock front speakers and aftermarket rear 6x9s, it just sounded really weird. Best way to describe it is that it makes it seem like the sound is coming from the rear.

I'd say get some decent front speakers if you have a chance.

However, set it up like Eurohazard said and see how you like that.

OK I found the amps but now I don't know which one were.

My suggestion is that you get new front speakers also. Use the Pioneer amp to power the front and rear speakers. Use the DHD amp for the subwoofer.
