ok.. need to change the fluid. 146k mi on the truck. i am sure it was done once (i am the 5th owner).

i am thinking of using redline.. but i need to know how many quarts are in this trans. is it 7.3 quarts?

any querks i should know?

For a drain and refill you are going to need 3 or 4 quarts. I would say it would be better to flush it and to do that thoroughly it would take 12-16 quarts, depending on how dirty it is.

Might as well do it right while your in there That fluid can get pretty nasty after a while. I didnt know they would hold that much fluid...I learned something yet again. Good luck on the changing!

thank you for helping to know how much fluid, what viscosity? 75W/90?
