Hey guys im back and after taking some time to grow up i realized how stupid i sounded in these forums. Ok so since my last threads i have have done some mods but im really excited about my next on. i have cleanly installed my tach (Black 2in sunpro) and my clean install of the CV axle and my fog lights. I know what your saying oh woop de doo. but my clutch is now slipping so after 199288 miles its finally going. So now im working for a local auto garage in durham and i have acess to over 150,000 dollars (US) worth of tools and lifts. But now i have a nice 4AGE engine that im going to drop in this weekend (Will have pics) i want to know if anyoner has any good clutches that will be able to stand up to maybe some light racing and maybe seeing some track time. Also i forgot to mention the suspension is nice and lowered and nice for cornering. I am looking into some nice Rota rims and now going to do some body work and repaint it white like it is stock. So other than that i now see that it is better to have a car with no show and all go. So i guess i should say thanks for helping to mold me.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
I like my ACT clutch with stock disc, holds up nice to a beating.
My OEM clutch held up to more than I even want to admit, then when I finally blew the transmission out(second gear burnout with no oil in the trans) I decided I would buy a new clutch just in case. Well the factory one and the replacement one were nearly identical, it barely even showed wear after A LOT of abuse, clutch slipping, and even 2 accidental drops from a stop at 5500RPM in 3rd gear.
yeah I am also impressed I haven't seen clutch issues for how hard I drive that little car. With 296,000 km on it now you think it would be slipping or something lol
Having so little torque keeps these clutches alive forever. Jmaz87 and erixon will be going through them much faster than us stock guys. Especially us stock 4AF guys.

Amen to that...My car has 205,000km's on the stock clutch. Two people have 'learned' stick on this car...I drive it harrrrd too! No slippage or notable wear yet! :D
:rice: JK JK! welcome back man. :)
hey guys well even though I know about engnes I don't know to much about transmissions. Ok my clutch seems fine but when you floor the gas it revs Really high around 5-6k rpm. Then when you take your foot off the gas you can feel it grab. Do 4af and 4afe engines do this???

That sounds like a slipping clutch. Any time RPMs and speed stop being proportional, your clutch is slipping.
I got lucky, I bought my rolla from a guy who thought that doing 80 was fast and about a month before he sold me the car, he got a brand new clutch put in...Why?...We may never know...It cost the poor man 1400$, so if you can do your own work, please do so for your wallet's sake.
$1400 for a clutch?? where the hell did he go? to the BMW dealer??

Last clutch I got done didn't even cost me $500.
lol, I did the whole 5 speed conversion in my ae86 (now gone) with a brand new clutch & PP, custom hydraulic lines, new slave cylinder.... had to source the pedals, flywheel, MC, transmission, and trans mount.... cost me about $250 lol
