I was going to put in an optima yellow top in my car, but the guy at advanced auto said that the battery is to tall and I would not be able to close my hood. I did a search and most people just had the problem of extending their cables. I just wanted to know is their different sizes or do I have to modify anything to make it it? I drive a 94 V6

i think your the yellow top is too small for it. u might have to stick a piece of wood or something underneatch to make it fit snug. half the times ppls @ pepboys and Adv auto dont know theit asses from their heads. i wouldn't trust me..

I know there's a kid on this forum that has a Gen3 with a yellow top. SeanT and he stuck a 3/4 mdf or under neatch the batt to make it fit snug.

is it yellow for compact car like civic?
red might be a better fit, need new longer battery cable, since the position of the terminal is flip flopped.

My optima batter is too short for the camry, so they do make ones smal enough to fit. Color does not make a difference in size. But they make several different modles and you can find one that will fit. do not get the one for a civic. it's way too small

Regardless of model, all Optimas need to be rasied in order to be properly secured using the stock tie downs. Optima does offer a tray to do the trick. I got mine free after emailing them.

As for extending wires, some ppl had enough slack that they were able to get them to reach. Otherwise you can use my tutorial to guide you.

If you are doing stereo competitions You should go with a heavy-duty commercial battery like the ones they use on semi's and stuff like that. You can get more cca amps out of one compared to an optima. The bigger the battery the better. I would have 2 batteries one in engine compartment. And one in the trunk. Also I would upgrade the alternator before doing so.
