Unless there has been additional aftermarket equipment installed in the vehicle there should only be one heavy gauge wire on the negative post (closest to the fender). The original negative clamp has a short smaller gauge wire that attaches to the passenger fender near the battery. The positive clamp should have a heavy gauge wire that goes down to the starter and a smaller gauge wire that goes to the fuse box for power distribution. Those extra wires were originally attached to the back of the clamp so battery exchanges just required removing the two clamps from the posts, swapping the battery, and reinstalling the two battery post clamps. If you have extra wires from added accessories like fog lamps and amplifiers you will have to trace them back. Typically wires with inline fuses will go on the positive side.

Here is an image that I posted recently, about Speedo errors. My error showed up in the fuse box lead to the +terminal, hence my labeling. Worth checking for a good connection and not just a visual check. FYI, I had an intermittent electrical drop, but not a complete failure. A new connector can make all of the difference ;-)
