Is there anyway to turn off the beeping sound for when my car backs up? I noticed that it does not help. It seems to only go crazier as I back out of my driveway, which has a minor dip as all driveways in my area do. The beeping never helps me.

Also, can someone tell me what this feature is called?

If I remember correctly, this is a 2009 camry hybrid.

Find the beeper, usually someplace in the rear bumper cover, and disconnect it.

Did you buy this car new, and if so did it have this backup beeper? Are you talking about a sensor telling you there is something back there or just a warning beeper as used on commercial vehicles?

Mine has an on/off switch where the speaker is. I have an 07 Camry Hybrid and I had the system installed when I bought the car.

If you have the backup sensor system you might want to check them. I've read that dirt on the sensors can sometimes causes them to give a false reading and cause the beeping.
