Best procedure for doing a compression test 1Z

Since being at home during these times I have been performing all sorts of preventative maintenance tasks. Struts, brakes, vvt solenoid, intake gasket, hoses, etc etc. I came to the realization that I may just be tossing money down the drain. Before I start dumping more money into my car I thought it might be a good idea to run a compression test to see if I am at least working with a solid engine.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this procedure? I've done compressions tests before. I just didn't know if the matrix had any special procedures involved.

It's standard compression test. Might need an adapter, but that should be included in the kit.
