Which off-road manufacturer do you roll on/recommend?

  1. BFG A/T
  2. BFG M/T
  3. Goodyear Duratrac
  4. Other that for the $$ is better overall than 1-3 (keeping in mind that the tires must be good on and off-road, mud and snow, sand and rock, conditions found between Colorado and slick rock in Utah, i.e. cooper st/stt)
Currently i have some BFG A/T 285/70/17 which will be due up for a new set this winter and can't decide on the route to take...any recommendation/reviews are welcome...thanks:thumbsup:

I've been looking at the same tires, Duratracs BFG ATs and Cooper STs

I think I'll end up getting either the duratracs or the STs
those coopers are looking good too...got a buddy who is highly recommending them...the stt's are bada$$ looking, but the st and st-c are solid tires it appears...
been seeing alot of great reviews on the duratracs on the forum though and really making the decision tough...
and i've loved the bfg at's so far, but could maybe use a more aggressive looking tire to switch it up...

That was also my thought, I've heard great things about the ATs but I'm looking for something just slightly more aggressive, currently I'm running an MT and it's just not what I really need. I think the Duratracs or STs would fit perfectly

Every set of BFG's I've ever run, no matter the model or vehicle, have worn out way too quickly and did not provide the expected off-road traction.

I'm currently experimenting with the Firestone Destination MT's on my work truck (07 Colorado). I do 60+ miles of SEVERE terrain driving most days including sharp rocks, deep sand, and blistering summertime asphalt. I still don't have enough miles to talk about their longevity, but as for traction...they can't be beat. I've never even gotten close to getting stuck with these tires. Directional traction in soft sand is far superior to the BFG AT's I had previously. Road noise is minimal considering the aggressive tread pattern. On road handling is a tad sloppy, but that's expected with an MT.

I'm in the same dilema. Looking at all three tires and can't decide on which one.

Seems as if a lot of people are riding on the BFG A/T, but the loading E rating can make for a stiffer ride, but, like I said, a lot of people have them so it can't be that bad.

The BFG M/T look to have a better over all rating. Unfortunately they are out of stock until late September/early October. My friend also said they wear good and can get 50k miles on them.

I like the looks and price of the Goodyears. I've read some good and not so good reviews on them. Soft wide walls, wear too fast, hard to balance, etc. Also heard they are great in all driving conditions.

I live in the Northeast so we get hit with everything. Definitely want something that can handle all types of snow, ice, rain, and dry pavement. I'm not looking to go off road, just for looks really.

Until recently, BFG A/T was available in load range D (265/70-16 & 265/75-16).
A lot of prior experience was probably with LR-D tires.

i just put the bfg at ko's in 265-70-17 on after running 45000 miles on revos 265-65-17...has taken a few miles to get used to the little harsher ride, went with the 6 ply d 's...didnt want to even think about e's and 10 ply...i have run 5 or 6 sets of bridgestone at's...they are great tires... , so are the bfgatko's..i just decided i needed to try something different...will probably try the michelin ltxat2's next time in 2-3 years...get 5100's and trd exhaust tomorrow...there are a lot of great tires to try...

Ahh, ok, thanks. I just may go with the Goodyears, or wait 2 weeks and see if the KM2s become available.
I am leaning toward the duratracs myself after much debate..the km2's i've heard bad things with winter driving and i spend every weekend in the mtns during the winter so winter driving is key for my situation...hopefully will have the cash flow to make the purchase in a couple weeks...currently have a center support bearing and brakes going all at the same time so $$ is tight with the truck...

I JUST had the BFG's AT KO's installed and I'm very glad I went with them.. I've had them on another truck so I know/knew what to expect in regards to traction.

I did have a dunlop on it and the BFG's ride much better then the Dunlops.

I went with the 265/70/17 series. I haven't experienced any rubbing or anything (yet).

In regards to wearing fast I didn't experience that I have seen my friends BFG's wear fast but they also were on a crew cab duramax diesel which weighs a substantial amount.

One thing i DON'T like with the BFG AT's is they are not the best on wet roads and can break loose easily especially if you have LSD/Posi.

Edited: BTW sears had the best price mounted and balanced was around 850.00
