about two months ago i bought a 94 toyota pickup 4WD with only 64000 miles on it i did a carfax on it before i bought it it was a one owner no wrecks it ran perfectly when i got it but know the engine is smoking and making knocking and rattling sounds i did an oil change as soon as i got it and i used valvoline full synthetic and i have put 1500 miles on it since then is it possible for an engine to have only 65000 miles on it and have a bad rod bearing or anything else that would cause a knocking sound the rattling sound actually sounds more like a whole bunch of metal bouncing around in the engine

I would pull the plug on the tranny to see if someone put atf in your manual tranny. Does the oil get dirty fast?

after driving it around a little allowing the truck to warm up fully the rattling goes away but as i was driving i suddenly realized that my temp gauge was all the way in the red so i pulled over to find no coolant in the radiator which i think is the red stuff because the over heating just happened now that i've noticed the red liquid so what i have now is a rattle between 1250 and 3500 rpms that goes away once truck is warmed up and a knock that quiets down a little when truck is warm i'am so fricken frustrated right now its not even funny this night has been a joke but i highly appreciate your help oh and the oil is actually really clean which frustrates me even more because with the knock i expected it to be black and smell burnt

is your 4wd a v6? if so, the oil pan and valve cover gaskets are kinda hard to get to. But if you're motivated, it'd be the best way to check it out. also, sometimes the exhaust heat shield rattles. Check your power steering if you have it. Typically that fluid is red, too. You should also check your oil when you drain it. Hold a magnet to the fluid draining out and check for metal flakes.

oh and also, when you go directly from regular oil to full synthetic it tends to be hard on the seals
