Biggest wheels on a XB......

i have seen pics of the XB with 20's (not sure of the tire size), and i was wondering if anyone has seen or put larger wheels on the XB. i'm thinkin 22's would look very sezxy on it..... i have seen a bunch with 18's and they just look sooooo little. i'm probably going to decide on a set of 20's, since i don't really want to hack up the new ride for larger wheels!

if you guys have links, or pics of a XB with big wheels, post them up.... i'd love to take a look.

thanks for the help,

Clay

We have 215/30/20 on our Scion! That will be your only option to be able to fit 20''s w/o any mods done to it (believe me)

/sorry i had it wrong they are 225/30/20!! Thanks Durby!! It is actually my lil brother's Ride!!
Wow.... Do you realize the strain that is on the drivetrain. Especially if you decided to get a little spirited driving? And Oversteer must be horrible... Don't get me wrong it looks good just not my thing for my bB
It is not that bad!! It was bad when we tried putting 225/35/20 on it because they rubbed and because you have several body pieces that rub but it was good all good because the discount tire associates did not have a problem exchanging the tires for 225/30/20 (well the ones that did not get a slash on it )
I've seen 20's on an xB and they look great. The extra weight on the drivetrain wouldn't be too much worse then having cargo in the back.
Welll...not necessarily.
You're talking unsprung weight vs. sprung weight, which has a different effect on the driveline. The gyroscopic/centrifugal effect of the extra weight of large/wide wheels it what really contributes to the strain.
Strange as it seems, I had some 15x7 alloys with 205/60-15s for awhile, and I could feel a major strain at take-off and shifting even with those, compared to the stock factory alloys!
^^^True,

But if you consider the weight of a factory steel wheel vs an aftermarket alloy in a larger size, they aren't all that different. It just depends on what your rolling i guess.
Just because I had a little time i weighed stock vs aftermarket

Stock Steel 15 with tire-----33 lbs unmounted
aftermarket 18's with tire----30-40 lbs depending on tire and wheel combo. I got 30 and 39lbs with two different combinations.

With a 20 it will go up but as you can see it wasn't a dramatic difference but enough to notice.
The difference is where the weight is located in relation to the center of the wheel
a 15" wheel is 7.5" to center an 18" wheel is 9" to center
the rim on a 15" wheel has a cercumfrence of roughly 47"
the 18" rim is about 56.5
the weight being farther from center takes more force to get moving
and more importantly more force to STOP

Exactly!

Just for jollies, I just weighed mine up, too:

I've got the 15x6 Scion alloys w/ 185/60-15s = 32 lbs.
My 15x7 Borbet Type S alloys w/ 205/60-15s = 37 lbs.

These are the wheels that I mentioned I could tell a huge difference with over stock, even though the wheel diameters are the same. My guess is that being a little slowed by the extra weigh combined with the effect on the gearing of a tire over 1" taller than stock made the difference.
I can't imagine what driving an xB with the 225/30-20s listed earlier must be like. That tire is about 5/8" taller than the 205/60-15! Talk about all show - no go!
Hey guys in my xB I have 19" and it dont ride that bad but I have a friend that his xB is on 20" it rides really bad but it looks nice here is a pic of the box with the 20" AXIS
